DAMAGING WINDS Cause Havoc on the roads

UPDATE 5:30pm – Power has been restored around Wahroonga & will be gradually restored in other areas. The traffic cameras at Windybanks and Wahroonga are now back online.

Damaging winds this afternoon have caused HAVOC on the roads around Wahroonga with no traffic lights in operation. Over THIRTY THOUSAND homes and businesses have lost power in the area.

We were first notified when the traffic lights blacked out at the entrance to the M1 Pacific Motorway (F3) at Wahroonga however it is more widespread than we thought.

We have since learned that power has been lost to Berowra, Windybanks, Hornsby Heights, Hornsby, Wahroonga, Asquith, Cheltenham, Beecroft and surrouding areas affecting traffic lights, homes, business and traffic cameras.

The NSW Fire has reported they are responding to over 70 wind related incidents around Sydney.

Trees and power lines are also making the trip home difficult.

Ausgrid said on Twitter that they have crews working to restore power and the ETA to restoration is 6pm tonight.

Traffic has STOPPED on parts of Pennant Hills Road and not moving.

Expect delays if you are attempting to enter OR exit the M1 Pacific Motorway (F3).
