EXTREME HOLIDAY TRAFFIC causes 60 minute delays

f3-crashMotorists travelling North on the M1 Pacific Motorway faced extreme delays just past the Newcastle Interchange earlier today.

Heavy holiday traffic began at 11:30am and traffic peaked at 1:30pm with 15 kilometer queues. This added an additional 60 minutes to a northbound run.

At times, the lengthy queue extended from just before the Newcastle Interchange to the Beresfield roundabout, through John Renshaw Drive and along the New England Highway to the Hexham Bridge.

An accident just before the Hexham Bridge Turnoff northbound dramatically increased delays for motorists.

There were also delays at MARDI near the Tuggerah Interchange Northbound and further North there were extensive delays Sancrox, Frederickton, Woodburn and Macksville on the A1 Pacific Highway.

At around 5pm traffic eased on the M1 Pacific Motorway (F3) however it is still heavy on John Renshaw Drive & New England Highway.

Earlier, motorists could avoid this queue by using Newcastle Link Road, Newcastle Inner City Bypass, Wallsend Rd and the New England Highway, we had had positive feedback publishing this diversion.
