2 fires affect M1 Pacific Motorway Today

A grass fire near the Black Hill overpass affected the M1 Pacific Motorway (F3) today.

The flames begun on the median strip then crossed to the western side of the motorway and smoke became a hazard and slowed motorists on both carriageways.

Fire crews from Minmi, Holmesville and East Maitland attended the fire which began around 1pm.

The Pacific Motorway remained open throughout the incident.

Fire fighters are now mopping up after they extinguished the fire.

A second fire which began at 3:30pm at Freemans Waterhole closed 1 of 2 southbound lanes. At around 4:15pm all lanes were reopned.
