The $1.7 billion, 40 kilometre Hunter Expressway will deliver a four-lane freeway link between the M1 Pacific Motorway near Seahampton, and the New England Highway, west of Branxton. The Hunter Expressway is the largest infrastructure project currently underway in NSW.
The wet weather in November and December set back the project and the Expressway is now scheduled to open to traffic in March 2014, weather permitting.
Final road surfacing work, line marking, wire rope barrier and sign installation and landscaping work is being carried out.
The opening date will be communicated via the media, Roads and Maritime website and signage along the main routes to the Expressway including the M1 Pacific Motorway and New England Highway.
