Byron Bay Triathlon road closures
Up to 1,500 people will take part in the 26th annual Byron Bay Triathlon from 6:20am to approx 10:30am Sunday morning.
From 6am to 10am, Broken Head Rd will be closed from Beech Dr, Suffolk Park to Bangalow Rd and this closure will continue along Bangalow Rd to Browning St, Byron Bay.
Local roads around Byron Bay will also be closed between 4am and 12pm midday including sections of Bay St, Middleton St, Marvell St, Tennyson St, Lawson St, Bangalow Rd and Broken Head Rd.
Traffic is expected to be heavy along Ewingsdale Rd from the M1 Pacific Mwy and on Bangalow Rd as motorists travel to the event and Byron Bay township while local roads are closed.
Detours will be in place throughout the morning. A vehicle crossover point will be managed at Ruskin St, Browning St and Kingsley St.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, follow the directions of traffic controllers and be aware of increased pedestrian and cyclist activity.
