477 TONNE SUPERLOAD, ** Second M1 Leg ** – M1 Pacific Motorway Hawesbury River Bridge to Lake Munmorah – A Giant 477 tonne transformer for the Waratah Super Battery is currently parked up on the M1 at the Hawkesbury River Bridge. Last night the transformer was transported from Campbelltown to the M1, and tonight from 11pm it will be transported from the M1 to Colongra (Lake Munmorah) which is on the border of Greater Newcastle and the Central Coast.. CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS – ***WIDE LOAD*** The maximum speed of the load will be 40km/h in a multi vehicle configuration of up to 5.8m wide and 125m in length between 11pm and 5am. Once completed, the battery will act as a giant “shock absorber” for the grid, providing dispatchable power up to 700 MW and 1400 MWh reserved. It is connected to the main transmission lines feeding electricity into the major load centres in Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong to be run at or near full capacity. If you see the vehicle, please follow instructions from pilot vehicles. You will be given an opportunity to overtake.
